?In his revised budget, Governor McDonnell has made a decision that is bad for Virginian?s health and bad for our state economy,? said Michael Cassidy, President of The Commonwealth Institute for Fiscal Analysis. ?In removing? federal funds that would? have flowed to Virginia to pay for the cost of expanding Medicaid insurance, the governor is effectively denying health insurance coverage to hundreds of thousands of Virginians ? many of them working parents ? and their families. By cutting those funds Virginia also will lose out on significant health care savings from other areas of the budget like uncompensated care payments to hospitals, and will lose out on the tens of thousands of jobs that those federal dollars would have supported in the health care industry.?
